Proposal Resources Available To Help Prepare for JWST Cycle 1

As JWST Cycle 1 begins to ramp up, you may want to start familiarizing yourself with the resources available to aid you in writing the  best proposal you can. STScI has worked to publicize many resources, including recruiting and training a group of volunteers — who participated in the inaugural JWST Master Class in November — to run local community workshops. You can view the list of local workshops to see what is available near you.

STScI has also made the materials from the JWST Master Class available to the entire astronomical community, as part of our “Workshop-in-a-Box”. These materials are available to anyone who is interested in self-teaching JWST observing or maybe even running their own local workshop. Alongside resources such as JDox, the JWST Observer YouTube channel, and the JWST Helpdesk, these materials can be used as a guide for those who want a comprehensive background in JWST observing modes and strategies, as well as those who might be motivated to run local proposal-writing events. Additionally, the Getting Started Guide in JDox can help you along the way. The earlier you start, the more time you have to hone that scientific idea into a well-crafted proposal.
