HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #836 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 064/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOC/96 4071 (UV studies of Galaxies) The Faint Object Camera was used to make ultraviolet images of galaxy NGC-1365 to try and isolate oxygen III regions in it complex nuclei. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of PC 3603 (Snapshots of Protoplanetary Nebulae) The Planetary Camera was used to make two sets of observations of the protoplanetary systems PK352-00D2 and PK321_03D1 to study their current morphology. A total of four images were taken. They all were received and displayed. They were reported to look okay. 1.3 Completed FOS/RD 4220 (Imaging Spectrophotometry of Seyfert Galaxies) The Faint Object Spectrograph was used to make five observations of Seyfert galaxy NGC-1068. The first two peakups were successful. Each of the 4X4 dwell scans had the maximum counts on the edge of the area scanned. The spectral observations was reported to look noisy, but showed some features. 1.4 Completed WFC/PC 4109 (WF/PC Calibrations: Rapid Internal Monitor) Internal Flat observations were made using both the Wide Field Camera and the Planetary Camera looking for new forms of contamination (i.e. measles and daisies), and the return of quantum efficiency hysteresis. Two observations were received and displayed in the OSS. They Both were reported to look okay. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WFC 3172 (WF/PC SV Observations: Internal Monitor Proposal) The Wide Field Camera was used to make a bias and dark observation. No external sources were used. Both observations were received and displayed. They both were reported to look okay. 1.6 Completed WFC/FOS/BL 3707 (HST Observations of Periodic Comets) The Wide Field Camera and the Faint Object Spectrograph (on both the Red and Blue Side) was used to make observations of the periodic comet Schaumasse. The first WFC image reported the target near the edge for chip #2. Apparently one of the spoiler stars had been acquired. The next two base guide star acquisitions failed. Corrective SIP maneuvers were uplinked, however, the acquisition images showed no images and the following spectral observations were not received. An HSTAR was written. (See Note 2.1) 1.7 Completed PC 4093 (Survey of Nuclear Regions of 102 Markarian Galaxies) The Planetary Camera was used in the snapshot mode to make high resolution images using filter F785LP of the inner regions of Markarian galaxy UGC-3973. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed PC 4140 (WF/PC Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor Part 2) The Planetary Camera was used to make internal flat observations to check for new forms of contamination, and the return of quantum efficiency hysteresis. The observations were monitored by the OSS, and the data quality was assessed. No problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 11 Successful : 9 CT during comet observations (063/0404Z and 063/0541Z) Scheduled Reacquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 Losses of Lock : 0 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 16 Successful : 16 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: The GSFC Simulation (Type 5 - Deployment) is currently under way, March 4, 1993 (063/1300Z-064/0100Z).
