HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #851 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 084/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed PC 3603 (Snapshot of Protoplanetary Nebulae) The Planetary Camera was used to take a snapshot of the protoplanetary system CPD-64D293. The observations was executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed PC 3458 (Stellar Population Gradients in Post-Core-Collapse Globular clusters) The Planetary Camera was used to make three observations of globular cluster NGC-6284, and to attempt to make observations of cluster NGC-6541. Three observations were made before the spacecraft was placed in safe mode. The remaining observations were not initiated. (See Note 4.1) 1.3 Uplinked Update Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871 This proposal was not initiated because of the spacecraft being in Software Sun Point Safe Mode. (See Note 4.1) 1.4 Completed GHRS/2 3845 (Deciphering the UV Emission Lines in T Tauri Systems) This proposal was not initiated because of the spacecraft being in Software Sun Point Safe Mode. (See Note 4.1) 1.5 Completed FOC/96 4073 (The Very Massive Object R136A in the 30 Doradus Nebula, NGC-3603) This proposal was not initiated because of the spacecraft being in Software Sun Point Safe Mode. (See Note 4.1) 1.6 Completed WFC 1297 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program) This proposal was not initiated because of the spacecraft being in Software Sun Point Safe Mode. (See Note 4.1) 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Losses of Lock : 0 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 8 Successful : 8 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: None 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: Even though the following proposals have been scheduled (Via the SMS) to be executed tomorrow, they will not be initiated because of the spacecraft being in Software Sun Point Safe Mode. (See Note 4.1) 3.1 Complete PC 4347 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Flood Retention Test) 3.2 Complete Three Sets of FOC/96 4804 (UV Imaging of Nearby Galaxies With FOC/96) 3.3 Complete PC 3603 (Snapshot of Protoplanetary Nebulae) 3.4 Complete Two sets of GHRS/2 3737 (The Onset of Chromosheric Activity) 3.5 Complete GHRS/2 4067 (GHRS 1ST Order Grating Spectral Lamp Test) 3.6 Complete FOC/96 3591 (Massive Stars in Starburst Galaxies, FOC Images (Part 1)) 3.7 Complete FOS/RD 4221 (Imaging and Spectrophotometry of Nuclear Activities in Liners (FOS 15)) 3.8 Initiate WFC 1297 (GTO High Latitude Program) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: The HST entered Software Sun Point Safe Mode yesterday (Wednesday, March 24,1993) at 1646Z. The preliminary indications for this event are that the solar arrays electronics sensed an erroneous position to the onboard computer. Spacecraft tape recorder dumps are to be examined, and follow-up review meetings are scheduled for this morning. Science operations have been suspended until the cause of this event can be determined, and the spacecraft reconfigured to normal mode. 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. -END- Building 28,W-248
