HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #877 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 120/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WFC 4105 (HST Medium Deep Survey: Cycle 1 High Latitude) The Wide field Camera was used to make one high latitude medium-deep sky survey image in parallel with the prime science observations. The image was received and displayed in the OSS. It was reported to look okay. 1.2 Completed FOS/RD 3858 (The Inner Regions of Quasars: Cycle Two Continuation) The Faint Object Spectrograph was used to make four spectrophotometry observations of the inner regions of the quasar PKS1354+19 to study line profiles, and the continuum energy distribution over a wide wave length range. The binary found the target in nine groups, and all of the spectral observations were reported to look okay. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of PC 4770 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Internal Monitor Proposal) The Planetary Camera was used to obtain a total of seven bias, dark, and internal flat calibration images required for routine calibration of the instrument. All seven observations were received and displayed. They were reported to be okay. 1.4 Completed FOC/96 3801 (Search for QSOs Suitable for Subsequent Observations of He II) The Faint Object Camera was used to make one observation of quasi-stellar object 1305+296 to measure its ultraviolet flux to see if it is sufficiently strong enough for future observations using the FOS and GHRS. The observations executed with no problems. The observations were received and displayed. No anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed Five Sets PC 4714 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: PC Internal Delta Flats) The Planetary Camera was used to make seven internal flat images using filter F673N. These images will be used for the restoration of Earth flats, which were altered due to changes in quantum efficiency which occurred after decontamination operations. All seven observations executed without appearent problems. The observations still remain on the science tape recorder, and will be analyzed later. 1.6 Completed FOC/96 4804 (UV Imaging of Nearby Galaxies With FOC/96) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make one observation of nearby galaxy UGC-6524. It was a ten minute exposure, using filter F220W. The observation executed without appearent problems. 1.7 Completed FOS/BL 4054 (Probing the Nuclear Regions of Seyfert Galaxy NGC-5548) The Faint Object Spectrograph was used to make spectral observations of Seyfert galaxy NGC-5548 to study the time variability of its continuum, and emission lines Helium II and Carbon IV. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Uplinked Updated Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871 1.9 Completed WFC/PC 4109 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor) Internal flat observations were made with both the Wide Field Camera and the Planetary Camera to check for new form of contamination, and the possible return of quantum efficiency hysteresis. The observations were monitored by the OSS, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Losses of Lock : 0 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 7 Successful : 7 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: None 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete PC 4714 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: PC Internal Delta Flats) 3.2 Complete GHRS/2 3664 (Probing the Gas of Superbubble LMC2) 3.3 Complete GHRS/2 3943 (Local Interstellar Medium and D/H Ratio - Cycle 2) 3.4 Complete Two Sets of PC 4770 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Internal Monitor Proposal) 3.5 Complete Three Sets of FOC/96 4804 (UV Imaging of Nearby Galaxies with FOC/96) 3.6 Complete Two Sets of FOS/BL 4054 (Probing the Nuclear Region of Seyfert Galaxy NGC-5548) 3.7 Complete Two Sets of WFC 4105 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 1 High Latitude) 3.8 Complete FOC/96 3853 (SINS: The Supernova Intensive Study - 87A Revisited) 3.9 Complete Two Sets of WFC 3917 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 2 Part 1) 3.10 Complete FOC/96 3881 (Crane, Augmentation, Galaxies & Clusters) 3.11 Uplink Updated Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871 3.12 Complete PC 4712 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Measles Monitor) 3.13 Complete PC 2563 (SINS: The Supernova Intensive Study: Cycle 1 Observations) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
