HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #889 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 138/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed GHRS/2 3759 (Dust, Molecular, Atomic Composition and the Physical Conditions) The High Resolution spectrograph was used to make spectral observations so star HD96675 (Visual Magnitude 7.65) which lies behind a molecular cloud. The absorption lines in the spectra of this star will provide more information on the dust and gas in the cloud. A total of seven observations were made. All of the wavelength calibration and spectral observations were reported to look fine. 1.2 Completed S/C 4816 (FOC/48 re-activation (Camera Section Only)) The Faint Object Camera (f/48 Camera Section only) was re-activated as scheduled. The operation was monitored in the OSS. All operations went as was expected. No problems were reported. 1.3 Completed FOS/BL 4054 (Probing the Nuclear Regions of Seyfert Galaxy NGC-5548) The Faint Object Spectrograph was used to probe the nuclear region of Seyfert galaxy NGC-5548 to look for time variations in its continuum, and emissions in Carbon IV and Helium II. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed WFC 4105 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 1 High Latitude) The Wide Field Camera was used to make high latitude medium-deep sky survey observations taken in parallel with the prime science observation. The OSS monitored the observations, and assessed the data. No problems were reported. 1.5 Uplinked Updated Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 Losses of Lock : 0 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 5 Successful : 5 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: None 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete HSP/POL 4888 (Remnant Stars in Supernova Remnants - AUG - Cycle 3 High) 3.2 Complete FOS/BL 4054 (Probing the Nuclear Regions of Seyfert Galaxy NGC-5548) 3.3 Complete PC 4714 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Internal Delta Flats) 3.4 Complete WFC/PC 4109 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor) 3.5 Complete WFC 4105 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 1 High Latitude) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: FGS "Breathing" Test -------------------- A test using all three FGSs is planned for the week of May 24. This test will take repeated astrometry observations using a small set of stars to investigate scale changes ("breathing") in the spacecraft structure. -END-
