HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #915 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 175/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOS/RD 4213 (Spectrophotometry of Lensed "Clover Leaf" Broad Absorption Lines) The Faint Object Camera was used to make eight observations of the Lensed quasi-stellar object QSO 1413+117 (aka, the Clover Leaf). The observations were displayed in the OSS, and they were reported to look okay. Two of the observations reported a noisy diode (i.e., diode #381) in the images. 1.2 Completed PC/WFC 4770 (WF/PC cycle 2 Calibration: Internal Monitor Proposal) Both the Planetary Camera and the Wide Field Camera were used to make routine KSPOT and dark calibration images. The dark image showed a peculiar streak, presumably resulting from the proceeding overexposed image of the star Beta Pictoris take on another proposal. The KSPOTs were reported to be normal. 1.3 Completed FOC/96 4804 (UV Imaging of Nearby Galaxies wit FOC/96) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make two ultraviolet observations of the nearby galaxy ESO-0344-3. Both observations lasted ten minutes, and used filter F220W. The observations was received via a science tape recorder playback, and displayed. An object was reported to appear in the field of view. There were two recentering events reported during the second observation. 1.4 Completed GHRS/2 4541 (Cepheid Masses, Cycle 3 High) The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make spectral observations of the blue main sequence star which is a companion to Cepheid variable star HD91595 (aka, Y Carinae). This is to help determine the mass ratio fo the two stars. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed WFC 4277 (Calibration of Nearby Galaxies Type IA Supernovae as Standard Candles) The Wide Field Camera was used to make one image of Cepheid variable stars located inside galaxy NGC-5253. This will make it possible to accurately determine the distance to this galaxy. This distance will be used to fine the true luminosity of the type - Ia supernova which have been observed in this galaxy. The observation was received and displayed in the OSS. The observation was reported to be okay. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Losses of Lock : 0 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 13 Successful : 13 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: None 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete WFC 4277 (Calibration of Nearby Galaxy Type Ia Supernovae as Standard Candles) 3.2 Complete WFC 5010 (Determination of Extragalactic Distance Scale.
