HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #921 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 183/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOC/96 4842 (Star formation Rates in Distant Cluster Galaxies - Cycle 3 High) The Faint Object Camera was used to make eight ultraviolet and blue image observations of two galaxies in the Abell galaxy cluster ABELL370 to study star formation in these red galaxies. All eight observations were received and displayed. There were no visible targets in any of the images. Image number three showed a small group of pixels with counts slightly above the background level, which may have been part of the target. 1.2 Completed WFC 4849 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program Cycle 3 High) The Wide Field Camera was used to make a total of eight high latitude sky survey observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. The observations were received and displayed, and the images were reported to look okay. 1.3 Completed GHRS/2 4359 (Probing the Hot Interstellar Medium of the Largest LMC Sugergiants Shells) The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make ultraviolet spectral observations of star SK67169 which is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud super shell LMC4. Grating G160M was used to make observations of the central star at wavelengths of 1303 A0 and 1550 A0. The data was received and displayed for the co-investigator. The data was reported to look okay. 1.4 Completed PC 3603 (Snapshot fo Protoplanetary Nebulae) The Planetary Camera was used to make a snapshot image of the protoplanetary system PK074+02D1 to study its current morphology. One observation was completed in fine lock. No problems were reported. 1.5 Completed WFC 3857 (Morphology of Galaxies in Clusters at Z = 0.5 - Continuation of 2373) The Wide Field Camera was used to make a series of image to study the morphology of a galactic cluster using filter F702W. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 15 Successful : 15 Losses of Lock : 1 Loss of Lock at 182/1723Z, FGS 1 AND FGS 3 lost fine lock, subsequent reacquisition was successful. 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 9 Successful : 9 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: Internal Simulation #4 (EVA 3) was successfully completed on (Wednesday, June 30, 1993), and Simulation #10 (EVA 4) was completed on (Thursday, July 1, 1993).
