HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #947 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 222/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Three Sets of WFC 4713 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: WFC Internal Delta Flats) The Wide Field Camera was used to make a total of nine internal flat calibrations images. All nine images were reported to be normal. 1.2 Completed FGS 4283 (Mass Ratio Determination For Doubles With Substellar Mass Members) Fine Guidance Sensor #3 was used to make astrometric observations of low mass star L722-22 in both the positional and transfer mode. These observations will be used to find the absolute positions of the members of the binary. The observations were monitored whenever telemetry was available, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WFC 5013 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Narrow. 2) The Wide Field Camera was used to make two Earth flat calibration images to be used for flat fielding of WFC observations. The observations used the narrow band filters, both with and without neutral density filters. Both observations were received and displayed. One observation was reported to be saturated, and the other was okay. 1.4 Completed PC 4929 (WF/PC Cycle 2: Improved Dark Calibration) The Planetary Camera was used to make two dark calibration images. The two exposures lasted 1200 seconds each, and the camera was pre-flashed before the observations. Both observations were reported to be normal exposures. 1.5 Completed GHRS/2 5069 (Empirical Determination of the Wind Velocity and Density Laws) The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make 13 spectral observations of the supergiant star Zeta Aurigae (aka, HD32068) to observe line profiles, fluxes, and absolute velocities. The spectral observations will be compared to modeled spectra to determine the density, velocity, and temperature structure of this supergiant star. All 13 observations were received and displayed. The 3X3 spiral search found the target on the first map, and the small science aperture peakup found it at the eighth position in the 3X3 spiral. The spectra was reported to look good. 1.6 Completed PC/WFC 4109 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor) Two rapid Internal Monitoring observations were made with both the Wide Field Camera and the Planetary Camera using filter F555W to look for new forms of contamination (i.e. daises and measles), and the possible return of quantum efficiency hysteresis. Both observations were monitored in the OSS, and the data quality was assessed. No problems were reported. 1.7 Completed FGS 4983 (Orbital Motions of Close Binary Stars - Cycle 2 High) Fine Guidance Sensor #3 was used to make astrometric observations of the star PCEN-548 which is located in the Hyades cluster. This is to measure the star's parallax and compute its distance modulus. The astrometry observations was monitored to the end, and no problems were seen. The first ten minutes of the observations occurred when the telemetry was not available. 1.8 Completed PC 4714 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: WFC Internal Delta Flats) The Faint Object Camera was used to make four internal flat calibration images which will be used for the restoration of Earth flat images, which were altered due to changes in quantum efficiency which occurred after decontamination operations. The observations was received and displayed in the OSS. It was reported to look okay. 1.9 Completed WFC 5080 (A Study of the Arcsecond Gravitational Lens 1422+321 - Cycle 3 High) The Wide Field Planetary Camera was used to make two images of the gravitation lens quasar QSO-1424P23 to study the subarcsecond structure fo the gravitation lens system. Both observations were received at the end of the shift, but there was not time to display the images. Most of the observation was monitored and no problems were seen in the telemetry. The second observation occurred during LOS. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Losses of Lock : 0 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 14 Successful : 14 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: None 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete Two Sets of WFC 4666 (The Jets of Centaurus A and Its Host Galaxies - Cycle 3 Medium) 3.2 Complete Four Sets of PC 4714 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: PC Internal Delta Flats) 3.3 Complete FGS 4892 (Duplicity Among Hyades Stars - Cycle 3 High) 3.4 Complete WFC 5013 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Narrow. 2) 3.5 Complete GHRS/1 3845 (Deciphering the UV Emission Lines in the T Tauri Systems) 3.6 Complete PC 4140 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor - Part 2) 3.7 Complete FOC/96 4800 (The Stellar Content of Wolf-Rayet Galaxies (FOC Images)) 3.8 Complete HSP/POL 1097 (X-Ray Binaries Part 2 - Cycle 2 High) 3.9 Complete S/C 5015 (FOC/48 Monthly Activation (Camera Section Only)) 3.10 Complete PC 4929 (WF/PC Cycle : Improved Dark Calibration) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
