HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #950 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 225/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WFC 4666 (The Jet of Centaurus A and Its Host Galaxies - Cycle 3 Medium) The Wide Field Camera was used to make images of Object Centaurus A (Part 4) to view the jet and its inner regions. The observations were executed as scheduled and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed PC 5020 (Separate Light Curves for Pluto and Charon - Spite of 3848) The Planetary Camera was used to make image of the planet Pluto and its moon Charon. The OSS monitored the observations and assessed the data quality. No problems were reported. 1.3 Completed FGS 5060 (Linking HIPPARCCOS to the Extragalactic Reference Frame Part 2 of 6) The Fine Guidance Sensor were used to make astrometric observations of the object INCA221-13. The observations will be used to determine the rotation of the reference frame used by the HIPPARCOS astrometry satellite. No problems were seen with the astrometric observations. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of 5014 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: PC Flats Narrow. 2) The Planetary Camera was used to make standard Earth calibrations images for flat fielding of PC observations. Medium and narrow filters were used, with and without neutral density filters. The observations were executed as scheduled, one observation was reported to be saturated, the other normal. 1.5 Completed FOC/96 4539 (Polarization Imaging of Radio Galaxies - Cycle 3 Medium) The Faint Object Camera was used to make images to the faint radio galaxy 3C33 to study its polarization and magnetic fields. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed WFC 5013 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Narrow. 2) The Wide Field Camera was used to make Earth flat calibration images to be used for flat fielding of WFC observations. The observations used the narrow band filters, both with and without neutral density filters. One observation was reported to be saturated, the other normal. 1.7 Completed WFC/PC 4207 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Photometric Calibration Monitor) Both the Wide Field Camera and the Planetary Camera were used to make ultraviolet calibration images of standard star BD+75D325. Twelve observations were received and displayed in the OSS. There were no apparent problems reported with the exposures. 1.8 Completed FOS/BL 4976 (UV Rotational Light Curves for Pluto and Charon's UV Spectrum - Split) The Faint object Spectrograph was used to make a TALED exposure subsequent to other spectral observations of the planet Pluto and its moon Charon. The TALED observation was received in real time. It was reported to look okay. After a corrective SIP maneuver was uplinked to the spacecraft, spectral observations were made of the planet Pluto. The observations were executed in fine lock. The observations were reported to look normal. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 9 Successful : 9 Losses of Lock : 0 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 13 Successful : 13 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: None 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete Two Sets of GHRS/2 1162 (Interstellar Abundance Toward a Star With High Depletion - Cycle 1) 3.2 Complete WFC 4738 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: UV Flats 1) 3.3 Complete Four Sets of WFC 5013 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Narrow. 2) 3.4 Complete FGS 4892 (Duplicity Among Hyades Stars Cycle 3 - High ) 3.5 Uplink Updated Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871 3.6 Complete Two Sets of GHRS/2 3472 (The Properties of single Interstellar Clouds - Cycle 2) 3.7 Complete Three Sets of PC 5014 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: PC Flats Narrow. 2) 3.8 Complete Two Sets of FOS/BL 4396 (QSO Absorption System Snapshot Survey - Part 1 of 3: Cycle 3 High) 3.9 Complete WFC/PC 4109 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor) 3.10 Complete Three Sets of PC 5020 (Separate Light Curves of Pluto and Charon - Split 0f 3848) 3.11 Complete Two Sets of FGS 4893 (Orbital Motions of Close Binary Stars - Cycle 3 High) 3.12 Complete WFC 4666 (The Jets of Centaurus A and Its Host Galaxies - Cycle 3 Medium) 3.13 Complete FGS 4935 (Parallaxes of Hyades Cluster Members - Cycle 3 High) 3.14 Complete WFC 4322 (Resolution of the Upper IMF in the Magellanic Clouds: Cycle 3 High) 3.15 Complete WFC 4383 (UV Spectroscope of Two Very C- Poor Halo Planetary Nebulae - Cycle 3 Medium) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /Ed Venter -END-
