HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #964 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 245/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Four Sets of PC 4714 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: PC Internal Delta Flats) The Planetary Camera was used to make four sets of internal flat calibration image which will be used for the restoration of Earth flat images. These were altered due to changes in quantum efficiency which occurred after decontamination operations. The observations was received and displayed in the OSS. They were reported to look okay. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of PC 5014 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: PC Flats Narrow. 2 ) The Planetary Camera was used to make four standard Earth calibrations images for flat fielding of PC observations. Medium and narrow filters were used, with and without neutral density filters. The observations were executed as scheduled. One observation was reported to be saturated, and the other three were okay. 1.3 Completed FOC/96 4834 (Crane, Augmentation, Cycle 3 High) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make only one exposure to study the content and morphology of the nuclear region of radio galaxy 3C31 (aka., NGC-383). The observations was received and displayed in the OSS. The image was reported to look normal. 1.4 Completed WFC 4381 (HST Medium - Deep Survey - Cycle 3) The Wide Field Camera was used to make one set of medium-deep high latitude sky survey observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. The observation was executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. The image was reported to look normal. 1.5 Completed FGS 4892 (Duplicity Among Hyades Stars - Cycle 3 High) The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of the possible binary star VA610 which is located in the Hyades open cluster. The OSS monitored the observation, and no problems were seen with the telemetry. 1.6 Completed PC 4644 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies -I A PC Snapshot Imaging) The Planetary Camera was used to make one snapshot observation of the spiral galaxy NGC-855. The observations used filter F555W and chip PC6. The exposure lasted 300 seconds. The observations was received and displayed, and it was reported to look normal. 1.7 Completed PC 4929 (WF/PC Cycle 2: Improved Dark Calibration) The Planetary Camera was used to make four dark calibration images. The two exposures lasted 1200 seconds each, and the camera was pre-flashed before the observations. All four observations were reported to be normal exposures. 1.8 Completed FOC/96 4546 (Imaging of UV Bright Stars in the Galactic Bulge) The Faint Object Camera was used to make observation of the bright ultraviolet star SGR-I (i.e., Sagittarii-I) which is located in Baade's Window. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.9 Completed FOS/BL 4662 (Exploring Triton's UV Spectrum: The First 1800 - 2500 A0 UV Survey) The Faint Object Spectrograph was used to make five spectral observations for the moon Triton between 1800 and 2500 A0. This region has not been observed before. They are looking for CO, NO, and hydrocarbon absorption lines in its spectra. The OSS monitored the observations, and assessed the data quality. No problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 10 Successful : 10 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: The JIS #2 Simulation was successfully completed this morning (Thursday, Aug. 31, 1993 at 0900Z). The simulation covered sequences 50 through 60 (PREP FOR SA RETRACT through SAFE MCU), and lasted for approximately 37 hours. All simulation objectives were met. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Uplink Updated Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871 3.2 Complete WFC 5013 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Narrow. 2) 3.3 Complete Three Sets of PC 4714 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: PC Internal Delta Flats) 3.4 Complete GHRS/2 3584 (Probing the Voids - II) 3.5 Complete Two Sets of PC 5014 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: PC Flats Narrow. 2) 3.6 Complete FGS 4935 (Parallaxes of Hyades Cluster Members - Cycle 3 High) 3.7 Complete FGS 5058 (Extragalactic Astrometry and Astrophysics FT12-23, Part 2 of 2 - Continuation) 3.8 Complete FOS/BL 4662 (Exploring Triton's UV Spectrum: The First 1800 - 2500 A0 UV Survey) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. -END-
