HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1017 PERIOD COVERED: 0800 EST Daily Status Report as of 321/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Set of WFC 4381 (HST Medium - Deep Survey - Cycle 3) The Wide Field Camera was used to make two set of medium-deep high latitude sky survey observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. Two observations from the first set were received and displayed. Both were reported to look normal. The remainder of the data still remains on the science tape recorder, and will be analyzed later. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of WFC 5013 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Narrow. 2) The Wide Field Camera was used to make Earth flat calibration images to be used for flat fielding of WFC observations. The observations used the narrow band filters, both with and without neutral density filters. A total of 12 observations were received. Of these 12 flats, there were 2 which were saturated, 4 underexposed, 1 partially saturated, and 5 were okay. 1.3 Completed PC 5014 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: PC Flats Narrow. 2) The Planetary Camera was used to make standard Earth calibrations images for flat fielding of PC observations. Medium and narrow filters were used, with and without neutral density filters. The observations were executed as scheduled. A total of six observations were made, all six still remain on the science tape recorder, and will be analyzed later. 1.4 Completed FOS/RD 3982 (Physical Conditions in the Narrow-Lined Region) Both Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) and Wide Field Camera were used to make observations to make observations of Seyfert galaxy NGC-3393-OF. This object was selected based on early acquisition images obtained from proposal 2306. It is hoped these images will help learn more about the structure of the nucleus. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. Nine observations were made, five of which were received and displayed. No anomalies were reported. The remainder of the observations remains on the science tape recorder, and will be analyzed later. 1.5 Completed PC 5017 (Internal Velocity Distribution in Globular Clusters: Part Three - Cycle 3) The Planetary Camera was used to make observations of Globular Cluster NGC-7078-R1. This set of observations will be used along with observations from proposal 1007, to study the proper motion of this cluster. Observations were made at different distances from the core center out to ten core radii. Two observations were executed in fine lock with no apparent problems. Both observations are still on the science tape recorder, and have not be examined. 1.6 Completed PC 5019 (A Survey of the Giant Branch in the Bulge of M-31 - Continuation for 2735) The Planetary Camera was used to help make a survey of red giant stars in the nuclear bulge region (aka, NGC-224-1) of galaxy M-31 (aka, the Andromeda Galaxy) to study the distribution and metal abundances of these stars. This is a continuation of proposal 2735. The OSS monitored the observations, and assessed the data quality. No anomalies were reported. 1.7 Completed WFC 5074 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Narrow. 1) The Wide Field Camera was used to make Earth Flat images which will be used to remove pixel to pixel variations in the grain of the chips. Sixteen observations taken in pairs were made for each filter. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 13 Successful : 13 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 11 Successful : 11 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Note: None 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete PC 5027 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor - Part 2) 3.2 Complete WFC PC 5025 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: Photometric Calibration Monitor) 3.3 Complete FGS 5118 (Monitor the Long- Term Stability of FGS #3 Revised) 3.4 Complete PC 4929 (WF/PC Cycle 2: Improved Dark Calibration) 3.5 Complete FOS/BL 3196 (Imaging and UV Spectrophotometry of Local Group Planetary Nebulae) 3.6 Complete Two Sets of WFC 5076 (WF/PC Cycle 3 Calibration: WFC Flats Wide. 2) 3.7 Complete WFC 4848 (GTO Low Latitude Parallel Program - Cycle 3 High) 3.8 Complete PC 5019 (A Survey of the Giant Branch in the Bulge of M-31 - Continuation of 2735) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
