HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1066 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 033/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5475 (A Snapshot Survey for Blue Stragglers in Magellanic Cluster Cores) The WF/PC-2 was used to make short exposure snapshot images of the blue straggler stars located in populous clusters SL-842, SL-855, NGC-2155, NGC-2209, and NGC-1651. A populous cluster is the Magellanic Cloud equivalent of a galactic globular cluster. The observations were made with two different color filters. The intent is to find out if blue straggler stars exist within these clusters. All of the images were received and displayed. They were reported to look nominal. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 4709 (WF/PC -2 Internal Monitor) The WF/PC camera was used to make a series of routine dark calibration images to monitor the instrument's performance. Three observations were monitored in the OSS, and the data quality was assessed. No anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed COSTAR/U 5604 (COSTAR/FOS Fine Alignment - Focus Repeat of 4745 With New Target) The scheduled Y-Tilt and X-Tilt adjustment for the COSTAR FOS mirror was completed as scheduled with no problems. The observations were received and displayed in real time. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5240 (SMOV-WFPC-2 Flat Fields Calibration) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a set of visual internal flat images. Eight images were received and displayed. They were reported to be okay. 1.5 Completed GHRS/2 4744 (COSTAR/GHRS Fine Alignment - Focus) The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make observations of ultraviolet standard star AGK81D266 to determine the best position of the M1 mirror. The star was observed at five different focus positions. All of the spiral searches and corrective pointing maneuvers worked as expected. All of the observations continued without apparent incident. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 4721 (WF/PC-2 Decontamination and TEC Turn On) The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet photometric observations of the standard ultraviolet star A+81D266, plus K-Spots, and dark calibration images. All four sets of CCDs were used. A total of 11 images were made in fine lock, and were received and displayed in the OSS. No anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :3 Successful :3 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: SMOV activities are being performed nominally.
