HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1076 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 047/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5112 (globular Clusters in M-31 and NGC-205: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep images of globular clusters K-219, K-105, K-58, and K-108 located within galaxy M-31 (aka, The Andromeda Galaxy) to obtain H-R diagram information and information on their radial densities. The observations were made in fine lock. Four images were received and displayed. Images one, two, and four showed signs of recentering. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5106 (Planetary Nebular Structure: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the planetary nebula NGC-1360 using several different filters looking for long lived condensations which appear in this type of object. Out of four received images, three of them were reported to have had recentering events occurred during the exposures. 1.3 Completed FGS 5338 (Linking HIPPARCOS to the Extragalactic Reference/ NEWHIP-D) The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of the extra-galactic object NEWEGOD-53. These observations are to help tie the HIPARCOS and extra-galactic reference frames together at the 0.0005 arcsecond and 0.0005 arcsecond/year level. No problems were seen with the telemetry, except that two guide star recenterings were reported to have occurred. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C93.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. Three images were received and displayed. All three were reported to look okay. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5104 (Peculiar and Interacting Galaxies: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of galaxy APR148. The OSS monitored the observations, assessed the data quality. Two images were received and displayed in the OSS. They both were reported to look okay. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5475 (A Snapshot of Blue Stragglers in Magellanic Cluster Cores) The WF/PC-2 was used to make short exposure snapshot images of the blue straggler stars located in populous cluster NGC-2214. A populous cluster is the Magellanic Cloud equivalent of a galactic globular cluster. The observations were made with two different color filters. The intent is to find out if blue straggler stars exist within this cluster. Two images were received and displayed. They both were reported to look nominal. 1.7 Completed GHRS/2 5609 (SMOV COSTAR/GHRS Sensitivity MSMT - (Replacement For SSA Portion of 47)) The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make spectrographic observations of the ultraviolet standard star Mu-Columbia to help measure the sensitivity of the COSTAR/GHRS optical path. The 5X5 RTB spiral search found the target in the first map. All subsequent reacquisitons obtained fine lock. No anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 9 Successful : 9 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :21 Successful :21 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: No anomalous behavior was reported in any HST subsystem or in any of the SMOV activities. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete WF/PC-2 4709 (WF/PC-2 Internal Monitors) 3.2 Complete WF/PC-2 5104 (Peculiar and Interacting Galaxies: Cycle 4) 3.3 Complete FOC/96 5151 (Follow-Up Far-UV Objective Prism Observations of Selected High Redshift Objects) 3.4 Complete Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5091 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) 3.5 Complete Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5240 (SMOV-WF/PC-2 Flat Field Calibration) 3.6 Complete FOC/96 5154 (FOC Observations of Elliptical Galaxies) 3.7 Complete WF/PC-2 5397 (Determination of the Extragalactic Distance Scale: Cycle 4 High) 3.8 Complete FOC/96 5139 (A Search for Low_Mass Companions to Nearby Astrometric Binaries) 3.10 Complete WF/PC-2 5092 (GTO Low Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) 3.11 Complete FOC/96 5144 (Study of Optical Associated with Radio Jets and Hot Spots) 3.12 Complete FOC/96 5377 (UV Observations of Pulsars: Cycle 4 Medium) 3.13 Complete WF/PC-2 5372 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, Low Galactic Latitude, C-R Split) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
