HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1087 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 062/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5240 (SMOV-WF/PC-2 Flat Fields Calibration) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a set of visual internal flat images. Seven images were received and displayed. They were reported to be okay, except for lost data due to a tape recorder track switch-over. 1.2 Completed FOS/BL 4776 (FOS SMOV Spectral Flat Fields) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make observations of white dwarf star G191B2B (aka WD0501+527) which is known to have a hot hydrogen atmosphere and a relatively featureless ultraviolet spectrum. These observations will help provide a flat field calibration of the system. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30 minute long dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 4763 (WF/PC-2 QE and Throughput Measurement) The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet exposures of a UV flux-standard star located in Omega-Centauri to be used for alignment studies. The OSS monitored the observations, and assessed the data quality. No anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed FGS 3856 (A Critical Test of the Galactic Escape Velocity at R(Sun), Continuation of 2428) The Fine Guidance Sensors were used to make astrometric observations of the high velocity star G-1625 to determine its galactic escape velocity. The FGSs was used to measure the target's trigonometric parallax and proper motion. The OSS monitored the observations and assessed the data quality. No problems were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky survey. The main purpose of these observations is to study the evolution and structure of galaxies. The OSS monitored the observations, and assessed the data quality. No anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :6 Successful :6 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: A nominal operational day was experienced by all HST subsystems and in the few remaining SMOV activities. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) 3.2 Complete FGS 5061 (Linking HIPPARCOS to the Extragalactic Reference Frame, Part 4 of 6) 3.3 Complete FGS 5331 (Linking HIPPARCOS to the Extragalactic Reference Frame, FT1-11, Part 7) 3.4 Complete WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) 3.5 Complete WF/PC-2 5209 (Luminous Stars in Old Stellar Populations) 3.6 Complete WF/PC-2 5436 (Age and Population of Super Metal Rich Globular Clusters) 3.7 Complete WF/PC-2 5204 (The Disk Around Young Stellar Objects) 3.8 Complete FGS 5174 (Astrometric Companions Search: Cycle 4) 3.9 Complete WF/PC-2 5091 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) 3.10 Complete WF/PC-2 5233 (Stellar Populations and Clusters in Elliptical Galaxies (WC08)) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
