HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1092 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 069/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5392 (Mapping Io's Surface and Volcanic Activity: Cycle 4 Medium) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of the surface of Jupiter's moon Io to study changes since the Voyager Mission and before the Galileo Mission. The observations were made of longitude 315 degrees on the moon's surface. Five observations were received and displayed. They all were reported to look fine. 1.2 Completed Two Sets WF/PC-2 5090 (Large Area/Multicolor Survey: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep exposure images of field #1416 as part of a large area high galactic latitude multicolor sky survey to learn more about the distribution of galaxies, their morphology, distribution in magnitude and redshift, and evolution of galactic luminosity function and colors. Eight observations were completed as scheduled. Four images had recentering events, and two images showed signs of a satellite trail. The other images were reported to be okay. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C171.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. Two images were executed in fine lock with no apparent problems. The science data remains on the spacecraft, and will be analyzed later. 1.4 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5240 (SMOV-WF/PC-2 Flat Fields Calibration) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a visual internal flat image. The observations were executed without apparent problems. The data remains on the spacecraft. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5206 (The Crab Nebula) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a high spatial resolution observation of the Crab Nebula (aka, M-1) to study the ionization structure of the filaments within the nebula. This is to study the chemical composition of the nova ejecta, photoionization processes, dust formation, and interaction of thermal and relativistic plasmas. The observation was reported to have encountered some several minute long recentering events. Complete analysis is pending the science tape recorder (STR) dump. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 9 Successful : 9 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :13 Successful :13 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: Another quiet operational day was experienced, as all SMOV functions and HST subsystem activities were completed without incident. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5090 (Large Area /Multicolor Survey: Cycle 4) 3.2 Complete Two Set of WF/PC-2 5570 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earth Flats, Large Set) 3.3 Complete WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) 3.4 Complete Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) 3.5 Complete WF/PC-2 5565 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4: Photometric Calibration Monitor: Fields) 3.6 Complete WF/PC-2 4709 (WF/PC-2 Internal Monitor) 3.7 Complete FGS 5587 (Parallaxes of Hyades Cluster Members: Cycle 4, High) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
