HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1093 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 070/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5090 (Large Area /Multicolor Survey: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep exposure images of fields #1416 and #1417 as part of a large area high galactic latitude multicolor sky survey to learn more about the distribution of galaxies, their morphology, distribution in magnitude and redshift, and evolution of galactic luminosity function and colors. A total of 21 observations were received and displayed. Several were reported to have had recentering events occurred during the observations. 1.2 Completed Two Set of WF/PC-2 5570 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earth Flats, Large Set) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a set of Earth flat calibration images using different filters in order to construct high quality flat fields of the OTA illumination pattern. A total of eight images were received and displayed. Three were reported to be saturated, two were underexposed, and three were okay. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain one 30 minute long dark exposure to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The image was received and displayed in the OSS. It was reported to look normal. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C275.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observation was executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5565 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4: Photometric Calibration Monitor: Fields) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration images by taking images of the large globular cluster Omega Centauri (aka, NGC-5139) to help determine astrometric and optical stability of the WF/PC-2. The OSS monitored the observations, and assessed the data quality. No anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 4709 (WF/PC-2 Internal Monitor) The WF/PC camera was used to make a series of routine ultraviolet flat calibration images to monitor the instrument's performance. The observations were monitored in the OSS, and the data quality was assessed. No anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed FGS 5587 (Parallaxes of Hyades Cluster Members: Cycle 4, High) The Fine Guidance Sensor #3 was used to used to make astrometric parallax observations of star PCEN-472 which is located in the Hyades open cluster. This is to help compute the distance modulus of the cluster. The astrometric observations were monitored, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :10 Successful :10 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: During the past operational day, there were no reported problems in any of the remaining SMOV activities or in any HST subsystem. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete WF/PC-2 5560 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 1 ) 3.2 Complete Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5090 (Large Area/Multicolor Survey: Cycle 4) 3.3 Complete Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) 3.4 Complete WF/PC-2 5611 (A Photometric Search for Planets of Nearby Stars: Epsilon Ordain) 3.5 Complete Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5240 (SMOV-WF/PC-2 Flat Fields Calibration) 3.6 Complete WF/PC-2 4709 (WF/PC-2 Internal Monitor) 3.7 Complete Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) 3.8 Complete FOS/RD/BL 5617 (SMOV FOS Plate Scale) 3.9 Complete WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) 3.10 Complete WF/PC-2 5570 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earth Flats, Large Set) 3.11 Complete WF/PC-2 5612 (SMOV WF/PC-2 Decontamination) 3.12 Complete FGS 4892 (Duplicity Among Hyades Stars: Cycle 3 High) 3.13 Complete WF/PC-2 5392 (Mapping Io's Surface and Volcanic Activity: Cycle 4 Medium) 3.14 Complete WF/PC-2 4763 (WF/PC-2 QE and Throughput Measurement) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
