HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1108 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 091/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOS/RD/BL 5626 (SMOV FOS Plate Scale (Revisited - Replaces 5617)) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Both Red and Blue Sides) was used to make plate scale calibration observation of cluster NGC-188-255. The onboard target acquisition was received in real time. One observations was reported to have been received and displayed. The target was fairly well centered. No anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. Several different filters were used. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5612 (SMOV WF/PC-2 Decontamination) The WF/PC-2 was used to perform decontamination operations. Observations of standard A+81D266, and K-Spot observations were also taken. The OSS monitored the observations and assessed the data quality. No anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed FGS 5338 (Linking the HIPPAROS to the Extragalactic Reference Frame, NEWHIP-D) The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of the extra-galactic object NEWEGOD-56. These observations are to help tie the HIPPARCOS and extra-galactic reference frames together at the 0.0005 arcsecond and 0.0005 arcsecond/year level. No problems were seen with the telemetry. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude - CR-SPLIT) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky survey. The main purpose of these observations is to study the evolution and structure of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5109 (A Deep Survey at High Galactic Ltitude (WC06): Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make long exposures of a high galactic latitude field to learn more about the number and morphology of distant galaxies and the luminosity function of stars in our galaxy. Analysis of the data is pending a science tape recorder dump. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 12 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :5 Successful :5 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: All HST subsystems have operated nominally during the past operational day. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete WF/PC-2 5560 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 1) 3.2 Complete WF/PC-2 5563 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration Monitor 1: UV/OPT STD.) 3.3 Complete GHRS/1 5540 (GHRS ECH-A Aperture Offset: Cycle 4) 3.4 Complete Two Sets of GHRS/1 5541 (GHRS Side 1 Dark Noise Monitor: Cycle 4) 3.5 Complete WF/PC-2 5415 (The Distance to the M-96 Galaxy Group: Cycle 4 Medium) 3.6 Complete WF/PC-2 5090 (Large Area Multicolor Survey: Cycle 4) 3.7 Complete GHRS/1/2 5297 (First Spectra of O Type Stars in R136A) 3.8 Complete GHRS/1 5277 (GHRS Side 1 Spectral Lamp Tests: Cycle 4) 3.9 Complete WF/PC-2 5559 (WF/PC-2 Astrometric Calibration) 3.10 Complete GHRS/2 5625 (GHRS Side 2 Carrousel Functional Test: Cycle 4) 3.11 Complete WF/PC-2 5516 (A WF/PC-2 Snapshot of R136A) 3.12 Complete WF/PC-2 5397 (Determination of the Extragalactic Distance Scale.
