HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1151 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 153/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5646 ()WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: CTE Dither Test The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the globular cluster Omega-Centauri as part of a calibration proposal. The OSS monitored the fine lock, but the subsequent observations occurred during LOS. Later, the observations were received and examined. They were reported to look okay. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5570 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflat, Large Set) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a set of Earth flat calibration images using different filters in order to construct high quality flat fields of the OTA illumination pattern. The observations were received and examined in the OSS. One of the images showed "bright worms" in WF2, which is a known condition. The rest of the data is still on Science Tape Recorder #1, and will be analyzed later. 1.3 Completed FOC/96 5151 (Follow-up Far-Ultraviolet Prism Observations of Selected Red-shift Objects) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make ultraviolet objective prism images of the quasi-stellar object Q0114-089 to determine if the object exhibits intergalactic He II absorption lines. The OSS monitored the observations and assessed the data quality. All guide star acquisitions achieved fine lock. When the observations were received, there was a status buffer error message saying "Improper exposure time recorded in the FOC header". The event was associated with a loss of FGS lock at 153/0037Z. Otherwise, the observations proceeded without apparent incident. 1.4 Completed Two Set of WF/PC-2 5091 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations greater than +/-30 degrees. The guide star acquisitions achieved fine lock, and the parallel observations proceeded without apparent anomaly. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5643 (WF/PC-2 cycle 4 Calibration: Partially Rotated Filters) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of star GRW+70D5824, using partially rotated quad filters. The observations was executed as scheduled, and the data remains on Science Tape Recorder #1. It will be analyzed later. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 1070 (High Resolution Imaging of Radio Galaxies at Large Redshift) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep images of radio galaxy 3C241. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5380 (UV Spectral Distribution in Low Luminosity Active Galaxies - Imaging) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations galaxy NGC-4278 which is known to have a low luminosity active galactic nuclei. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed GHRS/1 5376 (A Search for Molecular Oxygen Atmosphere on Europa: Cycle 4 Medium) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make spectrographic observations of Jupiter's Moon Europa to search for molecular oxygen (O2)in its atmosphere. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :12 Successful :12 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: During the past twenty-four hours, all HST observatory subsystems performed nominally. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: 3.1 Complete Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5643 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Partially Rotated filters) 3.2 Complete WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies) 3.3 Complete GHRS/2 5323 (Atmospheric Dynamics and Mass Loss in Gappers, Clumpers, and Hybrids) 3.4 Complete WF/PC-2 1070 (High Resolution Imaging of Radio Galaxies at Large Redshifts) 3.5 Complete WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) 3.6 Complete WF/PC-2 5427 (Calibration of Nearby Galaxies Type IA Supernovae as Standard Candles) 3.7 Complete WF/PC-2 5570 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflats, Large Set) 3.8 Complete WF/PC-2 5308 (High Resolution PC Imaging of a Z=2.4 Galaxy: Cycle 4 Medium) 4.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 5.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
