HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1152 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 154/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5643 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Partially Rotated filters) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a visual flat calibration observation. The observation was executed as scheduled. It was received and displayed in the OSS. It was reported to be saturated. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy NGC-4504. The observations were executed as scheduled, and the science data remains on the Science Tape Recorder. It will be analyzed later. No anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed GHRS/2 5323 (Atmospheric Dynamics and Mass Loss in Gappers, Clumpers, and Hybrids) The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make observations of the moderate mass giant star HD4128. A WAVE calibration image was also made. Four observations were received. The target acquisition was successful. No problems were reported other than some recenterings. Determination of the outcome of the OBSET is pending the display of the data. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 1070 (High Resolution Imaging of Radio Galaxies at Large Redshifts) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep images of radio galaxy 3C13. Two observations were executed in in fine lock with no problems other than recenterings. The second observation still remains on the Science Tape Recorder, and will be analyzed later. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and the data still remains on the Science Tape Recorder. It will be analyzed later. No anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5427 (Calibration of Nearby Galaxies Type IA Supernovae as Standard Candles) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of nearby galaxy NGC-4536-FI as part of an effort to find Cepheids which have produced type I supernovae. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5570 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflats, Large Set) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a set of Earth flat calibration images using different filters in order to construct high quality flat fields of the OTA illumination pattern. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5308 (High Resolution PC Imaging of a Z=2.4 Galaxy: Cycle 4 Medium) The WF/PC-2 was used to make very deep exposures of the young compact elliptical galaxy 53W002. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :12 Successful :12 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: HST engineers report that each onboard subsystem performed nominally during the past operational day. 3.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR NEXT REPORTING PERIOD: It has been requested by the HST Project Office that the HST Daily Report no longer contain the forecast of upcoming science activities (i.e., Section 3.0, ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR THE NEXT REPORTING PERIOD).
