HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1161 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 167/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5643 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 calibration: Partially Rotated Filters) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a visual flat calibration observation. The observation was received and displayed. It was reported to look as expected. 1.2 Completed FOC/96 5521 (FOC Geometric Correction and Plate Scale: Cycle 4) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make observations of the globular Cluster 47 Tucanae (aka, NGC-104) to help study the plate scale and geometric correction calibrations. Eleven images were received and displayed. They all were reported to look okay. 1.3 Completed FGS 5174 (Astrometric Companion Search: Cycle 4) FGS #3 was used to make astrometric observations of the possible binary dwarf star W-922 to look for an astrometric unseen low mass companion. The OSS monitored the observations and assessed the data quality. No problems were noted in the telemetry. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5565 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4: Photometric Calibration Monitor: Fields) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations by taking images of the large globular cluster Omega Centauri (aka, NGC-5139) to help determine astrometric and optical stability of the WF/PC-2. The observations remain on Science Tape Recorder #1, and will be analyzed later. No anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations remain on Science Tape Recorder #1, and will be analyzed later. No anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5427 (Calibration of Nearby Galaxy Type IA Supernovae as Standard Candles) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of nearby galaxy NGC-4496-F as part of an effort to find Cepheids in this galaxy which has produced a Type I supernovae. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 2 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a dark calibration observation. The observation was executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed GHRS/1 5438 (Io's Atmosphere: UV Spectroscopy of Neutral and Molecular Components) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make far ultraviolet spectrographic observations of Jupiter's moon Io. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 13 Successful : 13 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :6 Successful :6 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: During the last twenty-four hours, there were no significant problems in any HST onboard subsystem. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
