HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1162 PERIOD COVERED: 0700 EST Daily Status Report as of 168/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOC/96 5521 (FOC Geometric Correction and Plate Scale: Cycle 4) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make observations of the globular Cluster 47 Tucanae (aka, NGC-104) to help study the plate scale and geometric correction calibrations. An internal flat calibration observation was also taken. Thirteen images were received and displayed. There were some recenterings reported. Additional data still remains on Science Tape Recorder #1, and will be analyzed later. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make visual flat calibration observations. Eight images were received and displayed. Six were reported to be nominal, and two were underexposed. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5427 (Calibration of Nearby Galaxy Type IA Standard Candles) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of nearby galaxy NGC-4536-FI as part of an effort to find Cepheids in this galaxy which has produced a Type I supernovae. The observations were executed as scheduled, and data remains on Science Tape Recorder #1. It will be analyzed later. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5570 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 3 Calibration: Earthflats, Large Set) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a set of Earth flat calibration images using different filters in order to construct high quality flat fields of the OTA illumination pattern. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5643 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Partially Rotated Filters) The WF/PC-2 was used to make visual flat calibration observations. The observations was executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5397 (Determination of the Extragalactic Distance Scale: Cycle 4 High) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of galaxy NGC-4321 to be used in measuring the periods of Cepheid variable stars within the galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 13 Successful : 13 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :5 Successful :5 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: For the previous operational day, there have been no anomalous activity reported in any HST subsystem. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 4.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 4.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
