HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1205 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 230/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5571 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflats, Smaller Set) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several ultraviolet and narrow-band filter Earth flat calibration observations to correct for the telescope's illumination pattern. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5397 (Determination of the Extragalactic Distance Scale: Cycle 4 High) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of galaxies NGC-7331, and NGC-925 to be used in measuring the periods of Cepheid variable stars within the galaxies. The observations were completed as planned. Three recentering events were reported to have occurred for a total of 18 seconds. No other anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed FGS 4884 (High Speed Astrometry: A Search for Astrometric Companions to Low Mass Stars) The FGSs were used to make observations of Barnard's star to look for astrometric companions (i.e., a Jupiter-sized companion). The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxies 3C67.0, and 3C78.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxies' morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of galaxy NGC-3621 to provide statistics on the nuclear cups, stellar condensations, and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5344 (Search for Optical Counterparts of Globular Cluster X-Ray Sources) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of globular cluster NGC-6752 to look for optical counterparts to known X-Ray sources contained within this cluster. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed FGS 5587 (Parallaxes of Hyades Cluster Members: Cycle 4 High) The Fine Guidance Sensors were used to make observations of stars in the Hyades Cluster (i.e., VA645, PCEN645, AST121-REF, AST122-REF, and AST125-REF) to determine the parallax of the stars and to compute the distance modulus of the cluster. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :11 Successful :11 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: All HST observatory subsystems continue to perform nominally. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
