HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1216 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 245/1200Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5479 (Subarcsecond Structure in Nearby AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot observations of the nearby active galactic nuclei of NGC-4785 to study the interactions between the central engine, the stars, and the interstellar matter in the AGN. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed FOS/BL 5339 (Central Stars of Planetary Nebulae) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make ultraviolet observations of the central star of planetary nebula He2-108 (aka, PK316+8D1) to learn more about the properties of this type of star, and its winds. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5371 (HST Medium_ Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium Low Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make low galactic latitude deep multicolor images of objects such as galaxies, and stars in our galaxy. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of FOS/BL 5579 (Cycle 4 Test: To Determine FOS Polarimetry Mode) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make internal calibration observations of its polarization capabilities. Observations were also made of standard star BD+64D106. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5092 (GTO Low Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. This is part of a survey to take pictures of a large number of fields within 30 degrees of the galactic plane. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5397 (Determination of the Extragalactic Distance Scale: Cycle 4 High) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of galaxy NGC-925 to be used in measuring the periods of Cepheid variable stars within the galaxy. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5569 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Flats) The WF/PC-2 was used to make flat field calibration images with the VIS lamp, and the internal source. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed FGS 5587 (Parallaxes of Hyades Cluster Members: Cycle 4 High) The Fine Guidance Sensors were used to make observations of stars in the Hyades Cluster (i.e., PCEN472, VA472, AST86-REF, AST87-REF, AST-88-REF, AST89-REF, AST92-REF, AST86-REF, AST91-REF) to determine the parallax of the stars and to compute the distance modulus of the cluster. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :8 Successful :8 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: No significant anomalies noted in any subsystem. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time.
