HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1224 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 258/0000Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Set of WF/PC-2 5569 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Flats) The WF/PC-2 was used to make flat field calibration images with the VIS lamp, and with the internal source. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed FOS/RD 5304 (QSO Absorption Selected Galaxies in Field of 3C336: Cycle 4 High) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make observations of 3C336.0 to look for absorption from galaxies which lie along the line-of-sight to the QSOs. The observations were executed as scheduled. It was reported that the HST underwent one guide star recentering for a total of four seconds. No other anomalies were reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5629 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration Monitor 1C: 4-Chip STD in F170W) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations of the ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5479 (Subarcsecond Structure in Nearby AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot observations of the nearby active galactic nuclei of MARK885 to study the interactions between the central engine, the stars, and the interstellar matter in the AGN. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C380.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed FGS 4884 (High Speed Astrometry: A Search for Astrometric Companions to Low Mass Stars) The FGSs were used to make observations of Barnard's star to look for astrometric companions (i.e., a Jupiter-sized companion). The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed S/C 5582 (FOC/48 Monthly Activation (Camera Section Only): Cycle 4) This proposal was executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed FOS/RD 5486 (IZW1: A Template Fe II Quasar) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make ultraviolet high signal-to-noise ratio images of Quasar IZW1 (aka, One Zwanky One) to study Fe II emissions. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.10 Completed FGS 5334 (Linking the HIPPARCOS to the Extragalactic Reference Frame: BR0-11, Part 1) The Fine Guidance Sensors were used to to make astrometric observations of several stars (i.e., 0537-441IN, 520-REF, 521-REF, 522-REF, and INCA221-35) to help tie the HIPPARCOS and extragalactic reference frames together. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.11 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 High, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky survey. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.12 Completed WF/PC-2 5210 (Extragalactic H II Region and the Interstellar Medium) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy M-101 to look for extra-galactic H II regions in the outer part of the galaxy to determine their characteristics. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled :6 Successful :6 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: HST subsystems are performing anomaly-free. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
