HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1228 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 264/0000Z. 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Snapshots of 3 CR Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C390.3 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5560 (WF/PC-2 Internal Monitor) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several internal bias, K-Spot, and flat calibration observations to monitor the CCD camera electronics, the optical alignment, and to check for contamination. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed FOS/BL 5581 (Pulsating White Dwarf DN Draconis)) The FOS (Blue Side) was used in the rapid mode to cover the 17.2 hour beat period of the pulsating DA white dwarf DN Draconis (aka G226-29) to determine the index of the pulsational mode which will allow for the outer hydrogen layer to be determined. The observations completed nominally with no reported errors. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed GHRS/2 5414 (Dayglow from Outer Planets) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of the Lyman-Alpha profiles of the moon Triton on Neptune and the moon Titania on Uranus. A wavelength calibration observation was also taken. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed Two Sets of FOC/96 5669 (Flat Field Linearity)) The FOS was used to obtain internal flats using several LEDs at differing intensities to determine the intensity transfer function. This has not been done since SV and was needed because the ITF may have changed. The observations were completed as planned with no reported problems. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5378 (Evolution of Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy GAL-CLUS-0 to study its morphology. The exposure time was 2100 seconds. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5571 (Earth Flats) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several ultraviolet and narrow-band filter Earth flat calibration observations to correct for the telescope's illumination pattern. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 12 Successful : 12 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: HST subsystem engineers report that there were no significant problems encountered in any onboard subsystem. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /CAW -END-
