HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1238 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 278/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5423 (The Tucana Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the local group Tucana Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy. Two recentering events were reported to have occurred for a total of nine seconds. No other anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of FGS 5749 (A Critical Test of the Galactic Escape Velocity at R (Sun)) FGS #3 was used to perform POS mode astrometry of a high proper motion star, G16-25, and reference stars, determining parallax and improved proper motion. The parallax will make it possible to determine the distance to the star more accurately, which in turn will lead to an improved estimate of the tangential component of its velocity. The proposal completed with no reported errors. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (Medium Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky survey. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5560 (Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several internal bias, K-Spot, and flat calibration observations to monitor the CCD camera electronics, the optical alignment, and to check for contamination. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5143 (Observations of Galaxies Underlying Quasars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the low redshift Quasar PHL1093 and Q2205-203 to study the morphology of the underlying galaxy. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5508 (Tracking Features in Titan's Lower Atmosphere and on Its Surface) The WF/PC-2 obtained images of Titan to look for cloud features, and possibly surface features. The observations completed with no reported errors. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5345 (The Jet/Beam - Cloud Interaction in PKS 2152-699) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain images of the radio galaxy 2152-699, which has a jet that is interacting with a small companion galaxy. The observation completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 19 Successful : 19 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: There were no significant problems in any HST subsystem. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
