HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1277 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 336/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Two Sets of FOS/RD 5433 (Testing the AGN Paradigm in Nearby Seyfert Galaxies: Cycle 4 High) The Faint Object Spectrograph is currently is safemode, and no observations were executed. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C277.1 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5776 (Observations of the 1994 Spot on Saturn) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations fo the recent white spot on the planet Saturn. Observations were made through various filters. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed FGS 5510 (Mass Ratio Determination for Doubles with Subtler Mass Members) The Fine Guidance Sensors were used to make astrometric observations of binary star L722-22-00. The astrometric observations were monitored, and no problems were seen. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 High, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky survey. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.7 FOS/RD 5441 (The Inner Regions of Quasars: Cycle 4) The Faint Object Spectrograph is currently is safemode, and no observations were executed. 1.8 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5489 (Multi-spectral Images of Vest: Cycle 4 Medium) The WF/PC-2 was used to make multi-spectral images of the asteroid Vest in four filter passbands. The objective is to obtain a geological map of this apparently igneous body. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.9 Completed FGS 5657 (Duplicity Among Heads Stars: Cycle 4 High) The FGSs (TRANS-Mode) were used to make astrometric observations of star VA502 located in the Hyades cluster in an attempt to find a close binary. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.10 Completed WF/PC-2 5092 (GTO Low Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. This is part of a survey to take pictures of a large number of fields within 30 degrees of the galactic plane. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.11 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies: A PC Snapshot Imaging) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of galaxy NGC-891 to provide statistics on the nuclear cups, stellar condensations, and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 11 Successful : 11 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: No problems to report. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: The Faint Object Spectrograph is scheduled for safemode recovery at 339/0100Z using the SMS 339. /DMH -END-
