HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1286 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 349/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxies 3C296.0 and 3C270.13 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxies' morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed Four Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies: A PC Snapshot Imaging) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of galaxy NGC-2835 to provide statistics on the nuclear cusps, stellar condensations, and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5378 (Morphological Evolution of Galaxies in Clusters at Z = 0.5) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy GAL-CLUS-0 to study its morphology. The exposure time was 1200 seconds. There was one reported recentering event which lasted for three seconds. No other anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of GHRS/2 5671 (GHRS Dark Noise Monitor: Cycle 4) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make dark calibration images. These were strictly internal tests for routine monitoring of detector dark noise. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5571 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflats, Smaller Set) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several ultraviolet and narrow-band filter Earth flat calibration observations to correct for the telescope's illumination pattern. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make both dark and visual flats. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5629 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration Monitor 1C: 4-Chip STD in F170W) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations of the ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5449 (The Morphologies of Normal Galaxies at High Redshifts: Cycle 4 Medium) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the high redshift normal-appearing galaxies in FIELD-1417. The characteristics to be studied are bulge-to-disk ratios, spiral arm structure, and evidence of interactions or mergers. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 9 Successful : 9 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: HST operations via STGT were interrupted at 348/1414Z due to a power outage at STGT. All services were re-configured to WSGT. Estimated time of restoration of STGT power is 355/0000Z. The battery #2 capacity test is proceeding nominally. The start of recharge was commanded at 348/1829Z. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
