HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1289 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 354/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5764 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Flats - Repeat) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal flat calibration images using the VIS lamp and internal sources. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5512 (Cores of Early Type Galaxies: Part II) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the nucleus of early type galaxy NGC-4594-NU to obtain a rotational profiles and velocity dispersions. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5571 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflats, Smaller Set) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several ultraviolet and narrow-band filter Earth flat calibration observations to correct for the telescope's illumination pattern. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C132.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5397 (Determination of the Extragalactic Distance Scale: Cycle 4 High) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of galaxy NGC-3351 to be used in measuring the periods of Cepheid variable stars within the galaxy. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies: A PC Snapshot Imaging) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of galaxy NGC-4255 to provide statistics on the nuclear cusps, stellar condensations, and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed FOS/RD 5767 (Fall Heptathlon) Observations were made of several Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) F-SPECT1, to determine the position of the FOS in the Focal plane and to measure the plate scale. Several dark images were also taken. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.8 Completed FOS/BL 5539 (Cycle 4 FOS Photometric Monitor) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) used standard star BD+75D325 to calibrate the absolute sensitivity of its detectors. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5371 (HST Medium_ Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium Low Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make low galactic latitude deep multicolor images of objects such as galaxies, and stars in our galaxy. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.10 Completed WF/PC-2 5629 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration Monitor 1C: 4-Chip STR in F170W) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations of the ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 8 Successful : 8 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: STGT is scheduled to return to readiness at 355/0000Z. An RMGA full calibration utilizing "H" format will be conducted between the hours of 354/1550Z - 1815Z. There was an "H" Format FRR meeting held yesterday (Monday, Dec. 19) to verify fixes in the format, and to initiate the usage study. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
