HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1304 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 012/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5091 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations greater than +/-30 degrees. There was one reported recentering event which lasted for a total of five seconds. No other anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed FOS/BL 5444 (A UV Spectral Library of Metal-Poor Massive Stars) The FOS (Blue Side) was used for a snapshot program to obtain ultraviolet spectra of NS101-67, a metal-poor star in the LMC. It will be useful for stellar atmosphere and stellar evolution studies. The observations completed without incident. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed FOS/RD 5664 (Quasar Absorption Line Survey - Cycle 4 High) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make spectrographic observations of quasi-stellar object 3C57 to look for absorption lines due to gas in the intergalactic medium and galactic halos. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (Medium Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5563 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration Monitor 1: UV /OPT STD.) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration images of ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582 and monitor the photometric stability and quantum efficiency of the WF/PC-2. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5655 (Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 2 - Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make both dark and visual flats. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5629 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration Monitor 1C: 4-Chip STD in F170W) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations of the ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C29.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.10 Completed Two Sets of FOS/BL 5581 (Time-Resolved Spectroscopy of the Pulsating White Dwarf DN Draconis) The FOS (Blue Side) was used in the rapid mode to cover the 17.1 hour beat period of the pulsating DA white dwarf DN Draconis (aka G226-29) to determine the index of the pulsational mode which will allow for the outer hydrogen layer to be determined. Three recentering events were reported to have lasting for a total of 11 seconds. No other anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 11 Successful : 11 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: The ground PRS limits for Solar Array wing position were changed to a range of 60 to 90 degrees.
