HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1308 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 019/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed COSTAR/FOC 5762 (FOC Point Spread Function Monitoring: Cycle 4) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make an image of an ultraviolet standard star BPM16274 in order to monitor the point-spread function of the HST-COSTAR-FOC channel. There was one guide star recentering event reported which lasted for a total of four seconds. No other anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 High, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky survey. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.3 Completed FOS/96 5420 (Color-Magnitude Diagrams of globular clusters in M-31: Cycle 4 Medium) The Faint Object Spectrograph (F/96) was used to make spectrographic observations of the globular cluster G351 which is located in galaxy M-31 (aka, the Andromeda Galaxy). This is to help build a color-magnitude diagram of globular clusters within this galaxy. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed Four Sets of FOS/BL 5444 (A UV Spectral Library of Metal- Poor Massive Stars) The FOS (Blue Side) was used for a snapshot program to obtain ultraviolet spectra of AV75 a metal-poor star in the LMC. It will be useful for stellar atmosphere and stellar evolution studies. The observations completed without incident. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make both dark and visual flats. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5234 (Faint Clusters of Galaxies (WC09): Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of faint galaxy cluster Gal-CLUS-13 to monitor the observations and assess the data quality. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5663 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4: Photometric Calibration Monitor: Fields Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of globular cluster NGC-5136 with various filters in order to check the photometric calibration of the WF/PC-2. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.8 Completed GHRS/2 5305 (Iron-Peak Elements in Hot Subdwarfs: Cycle 4 Medium) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of the hot sub dwarf O class star HD127493 to measure the abundance of Fe and Ni. A wavelength calibration image was also taken. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 17 Successful : 17 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: The +SA SPA is operating normally again.
