HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1313 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z Daily Status Report as of 026/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOS/RD 5441 (The Inner Regions of Quasars: Cycle 4) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make spectrographic observations of the variable quasar PKS1055+20. The observations will be correlated with radio and X-Ray data for this object. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies have been reported. 1.2 Completed FOS/RD 5588 (FOS Prism Snapshot Survey) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make a Prism observation of quasi-stellar object PKS1055+50 to study its optical to ultraviolet continuum shape. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies: A PC Snapshot Imaging) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of galaxies NGC-4457 and NGC-1493 to provide statistics on the nuclear cusps, stellar condensations, and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of FOS/RD/BL 5532 (FOS Dark Monitoring) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red and Blue Sides) was used to monitor the instrument's background (dark) images. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5479 (Subarcsecond Structure in Nearby AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot observations of the nearby active galactic nuclei of PKS1358-11, IR 0450+039 and IR0450+039 to study the interactions between the central engine, the stars, and the interstellar matter in the AGN. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed FOS/BL 5349 (The UV Interstellar Extinction in M-31 and M-33) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make observations of star M-31-OB78-1 which are located in galaxy M-31 (aka, The Andromeda Galaxy) to study interstellar extinction. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed FOS/RD 5320 (A New Size Constraint on Lyman Alpha Clouds: Cycle 4 Medium) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make observations of object LB9605-NEW. The objective is to search for intergalactic absorption lines. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C357.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5351 (Properties of Intermediate Redshift Galactic Disks Causing Damped Lyman-Alpha) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations to study the diffuse material at intermediate redshifts that is identified by absorbing Lyman-Alpha spectrum from quasar 3C286.0. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 13 Successful : 13 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: No problems or significant events were reported. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
