HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1329 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 02/16/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 02/17/95 Daily Status Report as of 048/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make visual flats calibration images. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5512 (Cores of Early Type Galaxies: Part II) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the nucleus of early type galaxy NGC-4594-NU. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5574 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4: Polarization Proposal) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of G191B2B to obtain both polarized and unpolarized images of the target to calibrate the instrument. Visual flat observations was also taken. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.5 Completed FOS/RD 5451 (The Absorption Cross-sections of Nearby Galaxies) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to observe light from quasi-stellar object 1220+160, which acts as a probe as it passes the outer reaches of a nearby galaxy. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky survey. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed FOS/RD 5588 (FOS Prism Snapshot Survey) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make a Prism observation of quasi-stellar object 1220+160 to study its optical to ultraviolet continuum shape. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and Spiral Galaxies: A PC Snapshot Imaging) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of galaxy NGC-4818 to provide statistics on the nuclear cusps, stellar condensations, and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 12 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 6 Successful : 6 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: The re-charging of Battery #5, a concluding part of the Battery #5 Capacity Test, is continuing. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
