HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1331 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 02/21/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 02/22/95 Daily Status Report as of 053/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6142 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earth Flats, Smaller Set Part II) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth Flat calibration images for the ultraviolet and narrow-band filters to correct for the telescope's illumination pattern. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6140 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Ramp filters, Internal Calibration) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth calibration images as part of a ramp filter calibration test. The observations were completed as planned and no problems were reported. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of FGS 5587 (Parallaxes of Hyades Cluster Members: Cycle 4 High) The Fine Guidance Sensors were used to make observations of stars in the Hyades Cluster (i.e., PCEN548, VA548, AST96-REF, AST102-REF, AST97-REF, AST98-REF, AST99-REF, AST100-REF, et. al.) to determine the parallax of the stars and to compute the distance modulus of the cluster. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed Two Sets WF/PC-2 5092 (GTO Low Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. This is part of a survey to take pictures of a large number of fields within 30 degrees of the galactic plane. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5479 (Subarcsecond Structure in Nearby AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot observations of the nearby active galactic nuclei of NGC-513 to study the interactions between the central engine, the stars, and the interstellar matter in the AGN. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5560 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 1) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several internal bias, K-Spot, and flat calibration observations to monitor the CCD camera electronics, the optical alignment, and to check for contamination. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed FOC/RD 5512 (Cores of Early Type Galaxies: Part II) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to obtain rotational profiles and velocity dispersions around the core of galaxy DAS107-442. A wavelength calibration observations was also taken. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.10 Completed GHRS/1 5726 (Composition of Gas in Individual Interstellar Clouds: Cycle 4 Carryover) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make observations of standard early type star HD151890 which is located in the galactic disk to study the composition of interstellar gas clouds. Spectral lines due to atoms such as C, N, O, Si, Mg, and S in different ionization states should be seen in the line of sight of this star. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.11 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C6.1 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.12 Completed FOS/RD 5744 (Stellar and Gas Dynamics in Normal Galaxies Augmentation, Cycle 4 Carryover) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) small apetures were used to make observations of Normal Galaxy NGC-224 (aka, M-31, the Andromeda Galaxy) to study its stellar velocity dispersion and rotation, changes in the stallar population, and characteristics of emission-line clouds in the centeral region. A wavelength calibration observation was also made. The observations were completed as planned, and no problesm were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 15 Successful : 15 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: Data inversions continue periodically during STGT operations, but otherwise there were no reported operational problems. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
