HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1349 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 03/16/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 03/17/95 Daily Status Report as of 076/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed GHRS/2 5693 (The Evolution of Boron: Implications for Galactic Evolution) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of the late type star HD64090 to monitor its metallicity, and to learn about the chemical and dynamical evolution of the galaxy. The FGS #2 and #3 guide star acquisition failed to coarse track at 075/0303Z. The search limit radius was exceeded. The system defaulted to a single FGS #3 acquisition. Total coarse track time was 156 minutes (HSTAR 5157). No other anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed HRS/2 5468 (The Mass of the White Dwarf of V471 Tauri: Cycle 4 Medium) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side 2) was used to observe the white dwarf in the eclipsing binary system V471 Tau. The observations were made when the target was at position of greatest elongation on the side of the companion star. The target's velocity curve will be found from the strong Lyman Alpha absorption, and will be used to calculate the mass. The observations completed with no reported problems. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5123 (Imaging and Spectrophotometry of Nuclear Activity in Liners) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Narrow band observations of emission-line galaxy NGC-4258 to be used to identify ionized gas clouds near its nuclei. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed FOS/RD 5664 (Quasar Absorption Line Survey: Cycle 4 High) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make spectrographic observations of quasi-stellar object 3C110 to look for absorption lines due to gas in the intergalactic medium and galactic halos. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 10 Successful : 10 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: The STGT data inversions continue. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
