HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1351 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 03/20/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 03/21/95 Daily Status Report as of 080/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOS/RD 5532 (FOS Dark Monitoring) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to monitor the instrument's background (dark) images. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed GHRS/2 5473 (The Interstellar Abundance of Krypton: Cycle 4 High) The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make observations of the star Zeta Perius which is an O/B class star to study the abundance of krypton to provide information about stellar nucleosynthesis and stellar evolution. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5353 (Low-Mass Binaries in the Hyades: Cycle 4 High) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of the low-mass, late M-Class dwarf star RHY098 which is located in the Hyades cluster. Some of its companion stars may be brown dwarfs. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of FOS/BL 5736 (Post Asymptotic Giant Brach Evolution in the Magellanic Clouds) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make spectrographic observations of the planetary nebula SMC-SMP22 which is located in the Small Magellanic Cloud. This is to study the post asymptotic grant Branch evolution in the Magellanic Cloud. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5400 (The Starburst Galaxy NGC-5102) The WF/PC-2 was used to observe three fields in the star burst galaxy NGC-5102-FI, and one outside the galaxy. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 6142 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earth Flats, Smaller Set Part II) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth Flat calibration images for the ultraviolet and narrow-band filters to correct for the telescope's illumination pattern. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 12 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 11 Successful : 11 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: The only significant operational problems encountered for the period occurred at STGT: data inversions, and two periods of data loss due to equipment problems and a cold start of the DIS. A GRTS test was executed. No RF was detected and no clock or data was received from Canberra. Network and MOSES SE personnel are evaluating these test results. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END- Return-path: Received: from stsci.edu (marvel.stsci.edu) by avion.stsci.edu (PMDF V4.2-13 #4188) id <01HOE4IEJ71SAW238H@avion.stsci.edu>; Tue, 21 Mar 1995 08:56:14 EST Received: from mnb2.fss-moses.lockheed.com by stsci.edu (5.x/SMI-SVR4-DNI-8.0) id AA01342; Tue, 21 Mar 1995 08:57:38 -0500 Date: Tue, 21 Mar 1995 08:53:03 -0500 From: Wolf_Charlie Subject: DAILY REPORT #1351 To: a1 , a2 , b1 , burch , c1 , c2 , c5 , c6 , c7 , d2 , d4 , f1 , f4 , h1 , h2 , h7 , hstbb1 <#HST_Bulletin_Board_at_440/441/442-B8PO@ccmail.gsfc.nasa.gov>, hstoms <#HST_Bulletin_Board_at_510@ccmail.gsfc.nasa.gov>, k1 , k2 , l2 , l3 , l4 , l5 , m4 , m5 , n1 , o1 , p4 , p5 , r1 , r4 , r5 , r6 , s1 , s3 , s4 , s5 , t1 , TWELE@stsci.edu, w1 , w2 , w3 , w5 , w6 , Chapman_Bob , Leibee_Jack To: Stull_Gene , Whittier_Wally Message-id: X-Envelope-to: fraher, sobieski, twele X-Mailer: Mail*Link SMTP-MS 3.0.1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT
