HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1354 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 03/23/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 03/24/95 Daily Status Report as of 083/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5629 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration Monitor 1C: 4-Chip STD in F170W) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations of the ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed FOS/BL 5736 (Post Asymptotic Giant Brach Evolution in the Magellanic Clouds) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make spectrographic observations of the planetary nebula LMC-SMP61 which is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. This is to study the post asymptotic grant Branch evolution in the Magellanic Cloud. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5343 (WFC Imaging of Nearby Bright Quasars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of the bright quasar PG0923+201 and its host galaxy. The goal is to study the morphology of this galaxy, and to see how it differs from non-QSO galaxies. They also will be looking for the relationship between the properties of the host galaxy and the luminosity of the quasar. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.5 Completed FOS/BL 5532 (FOS Dark Monitoring) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to monitor the instrument's background (dark) images. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5479 (Subarcsecond Structure in Nearby AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot observations of the nearby active galactic nuclei of NGC-3081 to study the interactions between the central engine, the stars, and the interstellar matter in the AGN. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5366 (The Chronology of the Galactic Halo and Disk) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galactic globular cluster NGC-6293. The images were reported to look nominal. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 6142 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earth Flats, Smaller Set Part II) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth Flat calibration images for the ultraviolet and narrow-band filters to correct for the telescope's illumination pattern. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed FOS/RD 5531 (FOS Target Acquisition Test) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make observations of standard star STAR-22134 to conduct an acquisition test. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 7 Successful : 7 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: Data inversions continue during STGT operations. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
