HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1361 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 04/03/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 04/04/95 Daily Status Report as of 094/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make both dark and visual flats. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5396 (The Formation of Globular Clusters During Mergers) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy NGC-1487-PO which is believed to be the result of recent mergers. The purpose is to identify and determine the ages of its globular clusters. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed GHRS/2 5734 (Probing the Gas of the Superbubble LMC2) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of gas in the superbubble LMC2 by studying light from the standard super giant star SK-70111 which is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The superbubble is an expanding shell of hot gas which is moving outward through the interstellar medium. A wavelength calibration observation was also taken. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed FGS 6147 (Extragalactic Astronomy and Astrophysics Final: Cycle 4 Observations) The FGSs were used to make observations of targets 420-REF, NEWEGOD-56, 421-REF, 422-REF, NEWHIP-56. The objective of this long-term program is to determine the rotation of the HIPPARCOS reference relative to the extragalactic frame. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5091 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations to make high galactic latitude observations greater than +/-30 degrees. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed FOS/BL 5539 (Cycle 4 FOS Photometric Monitor) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) used standard star HZ-44 to calibrate the absolute sensitivity of its detectors. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium, High Galactic Latitude) The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 15 Successful : 15 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: Data inversions continue during operational support at STGT. Bits slips occurred during two dumps of the same data on ESTR #2 yesterday. ESTR #2, containing new data, was dumped again early this morning. Results of dump processing from the DCF have not yet been received. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
