HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1362 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 04/04/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 04/05/95 Daily Status Report as of 095/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5560 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 1) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several internal bias, K-Spot, and flat calibration observations to monitor the CCD camera electronics, the optical alignment, and to check for contamination. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5355 (The Binary Frequency Among Solar-Type Stars in Young Clusters: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the young cluster NGC-2068-PO to try and resolve close binary stars located within the cluster which may have separations as close as 0.1 arcseconds. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a visual flat. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed FGS 6138 (Long Term Stability Monitoring of FGS #3) FGS #3 was used to make astrometric calibration observations of stars OF63-REF, OF52, OF89-REF, OF91-REF, OF79-REF, OF51-REF, OF69-REF, OF74-REF, OF92-REF, et. al. located on open star cluster M-35 to monitor the long term stability of the FGS. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5092 (GTO Low Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. This is part of a survey to take pictures of a large number of fields within 30 degrees of the galactic plane. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5132 (A Photometric Search for Planets of Nearby Stars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric observations of nearby star HD61421A to search for possible planets. The exposure time was calculated so that area beyond 1.2 arcseconds from the central star is not saturated. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5766 (Determination of the Extragalactic distance Scale - M-101 Carryover) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the galaxy NGC-5457 (aka, M-101) to help improve the estimate of the Hubble Constant. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5461 (Low Luminosity Stars In Globular Clusters: Cycle 4 High) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of globular cluster M-4 to look for low luminosity stars. A color magnitude diagram will be made for these low luminosity stars. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 12 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 7 Successful : 7 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: Operations at STGT continue to produce data inversions. The results of the second two dumps of data on ESTR #2 were: first iteration, 16 bit slips second iteration, 0 bit slips Engineers are analyzing all recent ESTR #2 dump data to determine the reason(s) for the re-occurrence of the bit slips. 3.0 ANOMALY STATUS: 3.1 Significant New Anomalies: None 3.2 Significant Unresolved Anomalies: None 4.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
