HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1379 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 04/27/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 04/28/95 Daily Status Report as of 118/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5772 (PC Imaging of Gravitational Lenses, WF/PC-2 Augmentation, Carryover) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep exposure observations of the gravitational lens system 1413+117. The images were obtained in two band passes, with the longer wavelength filter intended for the lensing galaxy and the shorter for the quasar. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5479 (Subarcsecond Structure in Nearby AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot observations of the nearby active galactic nuclei of Mark50 and Q1209-1105 to study the interactions between the central engine, the stars, and the interstellar matter in these AGNs. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C226.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 6248 (HST Observations of Nova Scorpii) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the superluminal transient X-Ray source GRO-J1655 (aka, X-Ray Nova Scorpii 1994) following the outburst which started on March 20, 1995. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed FOS/BL 5665 (Mass Exchange Binaries (FOS 34) Carryover Observations) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make observations of the mass exchanging binary star DQ-Her (aka, Nova Her 1934). The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5092 (GTO Low Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations taken in parallel with the prime science observations. This is part of a survey to take pictures of a large number of fields within 30 degrees of the galactic plane. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed GHRS/2 5693 (The Evolution of Boron: Implications for Galactic Evolution) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of the late type star HD184499 to monitor its metallicity, and to learn about the chemical and dynamical evolution of the galaxy. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 19 Successful : 19 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: Operations report that one bit slip occurred during one of the ESTR #2 dumps.
