HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1392 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 05/16/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 05/17/95 Daily Status Report as of 137/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5560 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor. 1) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several internal dark, bias, K-Spot, and flat calibration observations to monitor the CCD camera electronics, the optical alignment, and to check for contamination. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5562 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 3: Darks) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain several 30-minute long, dark exposures to provide ongoing calibration of the CCD dark current and to monitor and characterize the evolution of hot pixels. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxies 3C179.0, 3C275.0 and 3C318.1 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxies' morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed GHRS/2 6288 (Eclipse Mapping of the Chorospheric and Transition Region Structure) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of star HD50337 (aka, HR2554) during the eclipse of its class A1 dwarf secondary star by the class G6 II primary star. The dwarf secondary star will be used as a light source to observe the plasma absorption lines in the outer atmosphere of the primary star. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed GHRS/2 5093 (Composition of Gas in Individual Interstellar Clouds: Cycle 4 Observation) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to obtain the spectra of a the early type star HD219188 to study interstellar clouds which lie along the line of sight to the star. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 12 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 10 Successful : 10 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: There were no reported operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
