HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1394 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 05/18/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 05/19/95 Daily Status Report as of 139/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed GHRS/2 6288 (Eclipse Mapping of the Chorospheric and Transition Region Structure) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of star HD50337 (aka, HR2554) during the eclipse of its class A1 dwarf secondary star by the class G6 II primary star. The dwarf secondary star will be used as a light source to observe the plasma absorption lines in the outer atmosphere of the primary star. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed GHRS/2 5608 (Interstellar Abundances in the SMC) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side 2) was used to obtain spectra of HD50337 to study the instellas medium in the SMC. The absorption line profiles will allow the investigators ro determine elemental abundances in the ISM. Such data is also ubeful in interpreting the absorption line systems in QSOs. The observation completed as scheduled, with no reported problems. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 15 Successful : 15 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 10 Successful : 10 2.3 Significant HSTARs: HSTAR 5206: GS Acquisition failed to coarse track. The baseline GS acquisition at 136/06:36 failed to make single star finelock. It did acheive single star coarse track. Observations U27LFW01-04 were affected. The failure was observed during quality assessment of the data perfomred by OPUS personnel. Proposal 5476 2.4 Operations Notes: MOSES has established a mission operations home page on the World Wide Web. This page is accessible directly from the Code 440 home page. The URL for the 440 page is: http://saturn1.gsfc.nasa.gov/440/. The daily mission operations snapshot and the forecast (meeting) schedule are updated daily. To reduce the use of paper, hard copies of these two documents will no longer be produced effective June 5, nor will copies be faxed. These documents are in Adobe pdf format. To access these documents users should install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. A link on the 440 home page will install the software for you or you can contact your system administrator. Other operations documents are also available on the mission operations page are more are planned. Ideas for this page should be directed to Bill Crabb. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: none /DEL -END-
