HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1399 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 05/25/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 05/26/95 Daily Status Report as of 146/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOS/RD 5125 (Velocity Dispersions in the Nuclei of Giant Ellipticals) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used with its small apertures to make observations of the giant elliptical galaxy NGC-4486 to map its stellar dispersion and rotation in the galaxy's central region. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6252 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 4 Crafting Test) This parallel program uses the WF/PC-2 and target fields at galactic latitudes above 10 degrees. Galactic star counts and the structure of the galactic halo will be studied. The observation completed at planned, and no problems were reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6121 (The X-Ray Binary in NGC6712) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain time-resolved photometry in the 21-mag optical counterpart of an x-ray source in globular cluster NGC6712. The photometry will define a light curve and provide the orbital period of this presumed binary, and to confirm that the x-ray source is a degenerate star. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 9 Successful : 9 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: There was a four minute real-time engineering data loss at STGT during the mode 1 to mode 2 transition. It is under investigation. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
