HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1417 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 06/21/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 06/22/95 Daily Status Report as of 173/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5479 (Subarcsecond Structure in Nearby AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot observations of the nearby active galactic nuclei of MGC-2-8-39 and IR258-113 to study the interactions between the central engine, the stars, and the interstellar matter in these AGNs. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6313 (The Hubble Deep Field (HDF) Experiments) The WF/PC-2 was used to make selected ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared in the continuous view zone (i.e., CVZ) using Hubble Deep Field HDF-123649 to study the morphology and spectral information on extremely faint field galaxies. This is a feasibility test in preparation for further studies. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6233 (Stellar Populations in NCG-147) The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain deep images about 0.5 degrees from the center of NGC-147, a dwarf elliptical companion of the Andromeda galaxy. The images will be used to obtain the color magnitude diagram for the stars in the old-population galaxy. This will put constraints on the age of the stars. Shorter exposures will also be obtained to search for any unusual objects. The proposal completed without incident. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 6 Successful : 6 2.3 Significant HSTARs: None 2.4 Operations Notes: It was reported during this operational day that at 171/171850Z yesterday there was science data loss due to a track change on the science tape recorder during WP/PC-2 proposal 6251. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
