HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1444 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 07/31/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 08/01/95 Daily Status Report as of 213/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6119 (Snapshot Survey for Companions of Planetary Nebula Nuclei) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot survey observations of planetary nebula HE2-131 to study its nuclei and to look for possible companions. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6053 (Extreme UV Stars in Omega Cent) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of extremely ultraviolet bright stars in NGC-5139 (aka, Omega Cent). These stars were also viewed by the UIT on ASTRO-1. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6133 (The Most Massive Stars in the Magellanic Clouds) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of star SK-67D166 which is known to be one of the most massive stars in the Magellanic clouds (maybe up to 200 solar masses). It is not clear whether or not these objects are single stars. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6188 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Dark) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal dark calibration images. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed FOS/BL 5948 (Damped Lyman Alpha Absorption Lines in Moderate Redshifted Galaxies) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make observations of the moderate redshift galaxy PG2112+059 to study its damped Lyman Alpha absorption lines. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking ultraviolet observations running concurrent with prime science observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed FOS/BL 6011 (Time Resolved Spectroscopy of the Pulsating DA White Dwarf Star PY Vul) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to in the Rapid Mode to make time resolved spectrographic observations of the pulsating white dwarf star (ZZ Ceti Class) PY-Vul (aka, G185-32). This 13-Mag pulsating white dwarf shows pulsations with multiple periodicities ranging from 142 seconds to 370 seconds. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5971 (HST Medium Deep Survey) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a long exposure medium deep sky survey observations at latitudes larger than 10 degrees taken in parallel with the prime science observations. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 14 Successful : 14 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 6 Successful : 6 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
