HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1467 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 08/31/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 09/01/95 Daily Status Report as of 244/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6189 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal Monitor - Vis Flats) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal visual flat calibration images. Both photometric and narrow-band filters were used. The observations were executed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6128 (Spatial Structure of the High Excitation Herbig-Haro Object HH80/81) The WF/PC-2 was used to make narrow band observations of the high-excitation Herbig-Haro Object HH81 to study its spatial structure. The objective is to directly observe the stratification of the high and low excitation lines on the HH object. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5970 (Exploring the Morphology of Cluster Galaxies at Redshift Z=3.4) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galactic cluster GAL-000328 at Z=3.4 in order to study its morphology. These galaxies in this cluster are known to have star forming regions. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed COSTAR/U 6162 (FOC Cycle 5 PSF Monitoring) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make observations of standard star BPM16274 and to monitor the point spread function of the COSTAR optical system. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was use to make random long exposures of high galactic fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 6184 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Photometric Calibration Monitor UV/Opt STD) The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet and optical calibration images of standard star GRW+70D582. The purpose is to monitor the photometric stability and quantum efficiency of the WF/PC-2 from the far ultraviolet to the near-IR. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Two acquisitions, at 244/0123Z and 244/0746Z, failed to coarse track. HSTARs 5264 and 5266 documented the events. Scheduled Reacquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 13 Successful : 13 2.3 Operations Notes: Operations are scheduled to be performed from SAMS today for a scheduled ground systems hardware test. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
