HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1470 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 09/06/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 09/07/95 Daily Status Report as of 250/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5991 (The Fundamental Plane of Early-Type Galaxies in X-Ray Clusters at Z=0.0) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of X-Ray galactic cluster GAL-CLUS-0 in order to measure the scale heights, surface brightness profile, color distributions and morphology of the cluster. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed Three Sets of FGS 6180 (Red/Blue TF Calibration) FGS #3 was used to make astrometric observations of stars LAT-COL-1B, SAO185689 and LAT-COL-1A in order to do a transfer function (aka, TF) calibration using the clear and pupil filters. These TFs will be used to deduce the presence of secondary stars in multiple systems, and to calibrate the non-zero angular diameter of extended sources. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Three Sets of WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was use to make random long exposures of high galactic fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5957 (Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations for radio galaxy 3C46.0 to study the morphology of the radio galaxy. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed GHRS/2/1 6064 (Companions to TC-Deficient S and MS Stars) The High Resolution Spectrograph (both Sides One and Two) was used to make observations of star HD191226 in order to study Technetium (TC)- Deficient in S and MS class stars. It is thought that the abundance anomalies in this class of stars may be caused by mass transfer from a companion star. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5760 (The Search for Super Planets Around Weak T-Tauri Stars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make I-Band observations of T-Tauri class star HBC392 in order to search for possible super planets by looking for thermal radiation from the planets in orbit around this star. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.7 Completed FGS 6271 (L726-8/UV Ceti) The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of the binary star L726/UV Ceti to search for a short period low-mass companion around either component of this binary object. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5999 (The Nuclear Structure of S0 Galaxies: A PC Imaging Survey) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of S0 class galaxy NGC-0404 in order to study its nuclear structure. This is a part of a large survey of S0, E/S0, and S0/a class galaxies. The targets will cover a wide range in luminosity and environment. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.10 Completed WF/PC-2 5839 (Gamma Ray Burst Counterparts in the Ultraviolet) The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet observations of object GRB920406 which is thought to be an optical counterpart of a gamma ray burster. Three filters from the blue to the ultraviolet were used. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 18 Successful : 18 2.3 Operations Notes: The battery #6 capacity test is underway.
