The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed GHRS/1 5883 (Properties of the High Velocity Cloud Towards HD203664) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make spectrographic observations looking towards the star HD203664 in order to study the properties of a foreground high velocity cloud (aka, HVC). From ground based optical and radio data, there is some indication that this HVC has substructure. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5992 (The Host Galaxies and Environments of BL Lacertae Objects) The WF/PC-2 was used to make short and deep observations of the BL Lacertae class object MS2143+070. The short exposures will allow study of the inner regions of the host galaxy. The longer exposures will allow a search for faint galaxy companions and any interaction between the faint companion and the AGN. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted, although the guide star acquisition at 251/1204Z failed to coarse track. 1.4 Completed GHRS/2 5880 (OH as a Signpost of Accretion in T Tauri Stars) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make spectrographic observations of the T Tauri class star HD284419 to look for emissions of the radical OH which is a signpost for accretion action is the system. The OH radical should come from the photo-dissociation of water in the infalling material in the accretion disk. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5353 (Low-Mass Binaries in the Hyades: Cycle 4 High) The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of the low-mass, late M-Class dwarf star RHY331 which is located in the Hyades cluster. Some of the companion stars may be brown dwarfs. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5972 (Determination of the Extragalactic Distance Scale) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the galaxy NGC-1365 looking for standard candle Cepheid variable stars. The purpose of these observations is to help estimate the Hubble constant with an accuracy of 10%. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed Two Sets of GHRS/1 5886 (An In-Depth Study of Transition Region Physics: Capella) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make observations of the bright star Capella (aka, HD34029) to learn more about the transition regions that produce the ultraviolet emission lines. A wavelength calibration was also taken. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. However, in the first iteration of this proposal (which lasted for almost six hours), the guide star acquisition initially failed at 251/2342Z. After the uplink of an ARU/PRT at 252/0220Z, the acquisition achieved coarse track but failed to achieve fine lock. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 6250 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal Monitor) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal bias, internal flat images and K-Spot calibrations to monitor the health of the cameras. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.9 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5957 (Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations for radio galaxies 3C33.0 and 3C84.0 to study the morphology of these radio galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.10 Completed WF/PC-2 5943 (Decoupled Cores in Low-Mass Early Type Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the nuclear region of the low luminosity early type galaxy IC4889 to study its detached decoupled core. The observations were complete as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.11 Completed WF/PC-2 6095 (Hot Stellar Populations in Globular Cluster Cores) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of globular cluster NGC-6522 to study the radial gradients of the hot stellar population in its core region. Observations were made in the blue, violet and far ultraviolet. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.12 Completed WF/PC-2 6119 (Snapshot Survey for Companions of Planetary Nebula Nuclei) The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot survey observations of planetary nebula LO8 to study its nuclei and to look for possible companions. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.13 Completed GHRS/2 5875 (Hot Winds in T-Tuari Stars) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make observations of the T-Tauri class star HBC388 in order to study its hot winds. This star is known to have one diskless pre-main sequence star as a companion. A wavelength calibration image was also taken. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.14 Completed GHRS/1 6168 (GHRS PHA/Ion/Threshold Adjustment Test-Cycle 5) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to run the standard pulse height analysis (aka, PHA), and to make internal flat calibration images, ion and threshold adjustments, and a dark calibration image. These are internal observations, which will be used to determine the best threshold setting for each diode. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.15 Completed WF/PC-2 5978 (Host Galaxy of Distant Radio Quasars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the host galaxy of distant radio-loud quasar 3C334.0. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.16 Completed FGS 6047 (Calibrating the Mass Luminosity Relation at the End of the Main Sequence) The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of star GL748 as part of a study to determine its mass luminosity relationship. The purpose is to measure the precise parallax and relative orbit of its faint companion. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.17 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.18 Completed FGS 6036 (Detection and Mass Determination of Low Mass Companions to nearby M Dwarf) The FGSs were used in both the POS and TRANS Modes to make astrometric observations of low mass companions to M class dwarf star GL791 and four reference stars. This will lead to a mass determination for the stars. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.19 Completed Two Sets of WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was use to make random long exposures of high galactic fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.20 Completed FOS/BL 6012 (The Periodic UV Spectral Variations in the Intermediate Polar FO Aqr) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used in the Rapid Mode to make high time resolution ultraviolet spectrographic observations of the periodic variations in the intermediate polar (IP) star FO Aqr. IPs are X-Ray binaries that consist of a white dwarf, companion star, and an accretion disk. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 20 Successful : 19 An acquisition at 251/1204Z, failed to coarse track.
