HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1480 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 09/20/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 09/21/95 Daily Status Report as of 264/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6235 (High Resolution Imaging of Radio Galaxies at Redshift Z~1.0) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of faint radio galaxy 3C13 which is known to have a redshift of about one. This is to attempt to determine the cause of the alignment of the blue-excess along the radio axis. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed FOC/96 6013 (Mapping the UV Surface albedo Distribution of Triton) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make ultraviolet and visible observations of the moon Triton in order to map its surface albedo distribution. The objectives are to place compositional constraints on Triton's surface, provide a baseline for future searches for seasonal changes, enhance the value of FOS spectroscopy of Triton, and to build confidence in the FOC's ability to generate albedo maps through a comparison of HST and Voyager imaging of Triton. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6183 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Decon) The WF/PC-2 was used to make some internal flat, K-Spot, and dark calibration images. The purpose is to define decontamination procedures to be run during Cycle 5. These calibration observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 6324 (Parallax of Geminga) The WF/PC-2 was used to make astrometric observations of STAR-0633 (aka, the proposed optical counterpart of the pulsar Geminga) to measure its annular parallax. Measurement of the parallax will fix the distance to Geminga. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 12 Successful : 12 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no reported operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
