HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1483 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 09/25/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 09/26/95 Daily Status Report as of 269/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FGS 6272 (Gravitational Deflection of Light (By Jupiter)) The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of the target star HD148898 and two reference stars, EIN1-REF and EIN2-REF, to study the gravitational deflection of light by the planet Jupiter. The point is to observe each star at several positions with respect to Jupiter. The observations were executed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was use to make random long exposures of high galactic fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6188 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Dark) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal dark calibration images. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed GHRS/1 6164 (Composition of Gas in Individual Interstellar Clouds: Cycle 5 DDT Observations) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make the highest possible resolution spectrographic observations of the interstellar gas clouds located in the line of sight to star HD202904 which is located in the galactic disk. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed FGS 6037 (Continuation of an Astrometric Search for Planetary Companions to Proxima-Cent) The FGSs were used in the POS mode to make astrometric observations of the star Proxima-Cent and a sub-set of eight reference stars. This is to look for the presence of a planetary companion. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5971 (HST Medium Deep Survey) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a long exposure, medium-deep sky survey observations at latitudes larger than 10 degrees, taken in parallel with the prime science observations. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted 1.7 Completed FGS 6268 (The Parallax of NGC-6853) The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations in order measure the parallax to NGC-6853, one of the nearest planetary neabulae. The observations were executed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed GHRS/2 6168 (GHRS PHA/Ion/Threshold Adjustment Test-Cycle 5) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to run the standard pulse height analysis (aka, PHA), and to make internal flat calibration images, ion and threshold adjustments, and a dark calibration image. These are internal observations, which will be used to determine the best threshold setting for each diode. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.9 Completed GHRS/2 6178 (Composition of Gas in Individual Interstellar Clouds: Cycle 5 GTO Observations) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make spectrographic observations of the interstellar gas clouds located in the line of sight to star HD202904, which is located in the galactic disk. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 14 Successful : 14 2.3 Operations Notes: Nothing to report. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
